In each language, as opposed to the rule-governed structure of written language, spoken language displays a wide range of variety. For this reanson, determining the rules for the standard pronunciation which reflect social reconciliation and which, when required, have a unifying function in pronunciation, is clearly important for the language user. In other words, in any language, dictionaries of standard pronunciation are just as necessary as spelling dictionaries.
